Fr. John McCarthy has been working at the
intersection of science and religion
throughout his life. He is the author of Do
Monkeys Go to Heaven? Finding God in All
Creation (Novalis 2015). He joined the Jesuits in 1983 and holds advanced degrees in Philosophy and Theology.
He also holds a PhD in Boreal Forest Ecology, a Masters in Soil Science and a BSc in Forest Tree Biology. He has international renown as a lichen specialist, which he continues to study in addition to publishing articles on faith and science.
