Description: September, 2014 – GUELPH, ONTARIO – The 2014 Fresh Water Jamboree Festival will be held at Riverside Park at the Bandshell on Saturday, September 13, 2014, from noon to 11:00pm.

We have a special guest this year! At 5:00pm Maude Barlow will be putting on a presentation about the importance of Fresh Water. Maude is one of the most knowledgeable people on this subject and you can check her out at http://www.canadians.org/maude.

The Fresh Water Jamboree is an annual one-day music festival established to help raise awareness about “fresh water” in Wellington County, the province of Ontario, and across Canada.

The festival is organized by “Be The Artist” (www.betheartist.ca), which is a Guelph based organization promoting musicians and environmental initiatives. The festival is held on Saturday, September 13th, 2014 at Riverside Park Bandshell in Guelph. There will be presentations and music from 12:00noon until 11:00pm. We expect to have between 2 000 and 3 000 people attend. Vendors and crafters as well as information booths will be stationed at the event and there are many local musicians and artistic communities involved. Maude Barlow has decided to sponsor the event and will be presenting a detailed and informative talk on our Fresh Water Crisis here in Canada and around the world.

There will be Bands such as Shane Phillips, Ian Andrews and The Smokin’ Scoundrels, James Gordon, Glen Soulis, The Soles, John Layton, and more.

Our aim is to educate the public about water conservation before our fresh water is unusable. The UN suggests that each person needs 20-50 litres of water a day to ensure their basic needs for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. There are countries and many corporations exploiting Canada’s reservoirs and aquifers. Furthermore, there is a rapidly growing number of countries that have little or no access to drinking water. We are continually undergoing local issues. We hope to encourage people to act Locally and think Globally.

Maude Barlow – From Council of Canadians, Water Wagon, Zehrs Eramosa, Two Plus Pizza, Freshco, Canadian – Tire Stone Road, The Water Store, Planet Bean, Be The Artist, Griesbach Contracting and many individuals have donated.
