Title: DIY Artistic Activism: a how-to workshop

Description: FREE! Snacks Provided. exact location TBA

This participatory workshop will explore the basics of successfully self-publishing and distributing your album, film, poetry book, visual art, etc.

The workshop will be flexible and based around the needs and experiences of folks in attendance, but some of the tools we will focus on are how to use platforms such as Indiegogo or Kickstarter for successful online crowd-funding, DIY tour-booking and tour-planning, and grassroots event organizing. For musical artists we can also look at tools for online distribution and getting radio play.

It’s not easy being an independent artist these days. In addition to being artists we must be fundraisers, tour-bookers, publicists, distributers, event organizers, website creators, and often even more. Luckily there are some easy tools we can all use to our advantage.

Facilitated by Darius Mirshahi, a long-time activist-artist and social justice organizer.
