Description: The Emmy Award winning documentary film Journey of the Universe: An Epic Story of Cosmic, Earth, and Human Transformation will be shown September 21st to celebrate the International Day of Peace.
“Journey of the Universe” explores the origins of the universe, the emergence of life, and the rise of human consciousness. The film weaves together the findings of modern science with cultural traditions of the West, China, Africa, India, and indigenous peoples to explore cosmic evolution as a process of creativity, connection and interdependence. Thomas E. Lovejoy, Ph.D., Professor, Scientist and Founder of the PBS series Nature recommends, “This is one of the most remarkable films I have ever seen.”
“Journey” is hosted by evolutionary philosopher Brian Thomas Swimme. The film is the result of his 30-year collaboration with Mary Evelyn Tucker, Director of The Forum on Religion and Ecology at Yale, and the late Thomas Berry, a historian of world religions and a leading environmental thinker.
The film will be followed by a discussion lead by Dr. Daisy Radigan, a member of the Elderberry Connection www.elderberryconnection.ca, a group are inspired by Thomas Berry. Co-sponsors are Transition Guelph, KAIROS and The Elderberry Connection. Admission is $10 or donation.
