Hooping for Hunger is a family fun day and hula-hoop-a-thon which aims to raise funds for and increase education around hunger issues both locally and globally.

Over the last three years, nearly $30 000 has been raised and distributed to the Chalmers Community Service Centre and The Hunger Project Canada. This year, we are aiming to raise another $10 000. You can help us meet that goal in three ways: enter a hula hooping team and raise pledges, join in the HORSE / Freethrow challenges or by joining us to cheer on the hula-hoop-a-thon-ers and participating in any of the other fun activities on that day! Awesome prizes (and bragging rights!) will be awarded to the top earning teams. You might be thinking “I can’t hula hoop!” but that’s probably not true. With a little (or a lot of) practice it is a skill that can be learned, and is not nearly as difficult as the constant need to search for food and other items to care for yourself and your family. The struggle to learn to hoop is a drop in the bucket compared to what some people in our community struggle with – and it’s fun!
