Description:

The 3rd National Day of Action to Stop the Cuts to Refugee health Care.

Concerned Guelph health service providers, Fuerza/Puwersa , Growing Community Health in collaboration with Canadian Doctors for Refugee Care are organizing a Guelph rally at Guelph City Hall in support of the National Day of Action on June 16th. The Guelph rally will show the Federal Government that we will continue to challenge these cuts and support health access for all members of our communities.

Along with the other protests happening across the country, our rally is in response to the reckless Interim federal health Program (IFHP) cuts that have resulted in refugees being denied important public health care services.

Despite widespread opposition from a broad group of health care workers across Canada, the federal government has implemented cuts to health insurance for refugees. As predicted, many are suffering as a result. There have been well documented cases of people being denied care including pregnant women and sick children. Health care workers join others in continuing to speak out in solidarity with people who face government sanctioned barriers to addressing their health and well-being needs.

Join us on June 16th for the third National Day of Action. It is an opportunity to show the federal government that regardless of whether we work as doctors, nurses, factory workers, or new mothers we will stand up to protect our communities from the federal governments cuts to refugee healthcare provision. Join us on Monday June 16th, in front of Guelph City Hall if you are for a Guelph, and a Canada where there are no government barriers based on a person’s status to access healthcare and well-being.
