Title: The 2012 Summer Institute Presents: Trans 101 Workshop

Description: Workshop Description: This workshop will discuss terminology, current law(s) and proposed laws governing trans protections, rights, and access to services, such as SRS. This workshop will also have interactive scenario-based discussions founded on actual events in the news, and will address frameworks within which we are often viewed (ex. gender as social construct) as well as overcoming common hurdles.

Participants will also be provided with a list of resources, and places, where further information is available with regards to different perspectives, frameworks, experiences and intersectionalities.

Facilitator Bio: Tucker is a transman who currently works at a consumer/survivor run and staffed organization doing systemic advocacy. His academic background is in the life sciences.
